The Ecco Password Generator is a tool used for generating and decoding passwords from the Ecco the Dolphin series. The password generator can do things the games built in debug mode cannot do. One such feature is being able to enable unlimited air, or charge sonar and permanent kill abilities. You can even select the globe you return to the Asterite on the second Deep Water stage!

Scenarios are exclusive to Ecco the Dolphin for Mega Drive/Sega Genesis. They generate passwords so the player can experience things in the game they might not otherwise be able to experience. In addition some of the scenarios signify major events that occur in the game that the player can participate in.
A Stage Event controls an aspect of a particular stage. There are four in total, two of which determine the behavior of the time machine, while another determines the effects of the storm at the begining of the game. A final stage event is included due to a bug in the password system, this one is labeled Stage Event 6.
Special Abilities are aspects of Ecco that allow him an advantage during game play. Unlimited Air is an ability granted to Ecco after returning the Asterite's missing globe. It enables him to not have to surface for air. Charge Sonar is an ability Ecco receives from saving the dolphins on the stage The Vents. When the player presses both the charge and sonar buttons at the same time, Ecco can create a pulse sonar that can kill enemies at a distance. The Permenent Kill ability is given to Ecco for saving the dolphins on the stage The Lagoon. After the player kills an enemy if they quickly tap the charge button, the enemy will be absorbed into Ecco's memory and will be unable to respawn.
The Death Counter is an unused part the of password system that keeps track of the amount of times Ecco died in the game. It has a resolution of 7, meaning it will count the amount of times Ecco died and eventually stop at 7.
Time elapsed is a built in timer that keeps track of the total amount of time the player has been playing the game.
